January 2017, Lucky Dog Hot Sauce won 3 First Place, 2 Second Place, and 2 Third Place awards at Zestfest, in Irving, TX.
One of the longest running & most prestigious fiery food competitions in the country, the Golden Chile is among the most coveted awards in the industry.
From 2012 through 2015, Lucky Dog had won 3x Golden Chiles. This year that number doubled!
1st Place, XHot - Black Label
1st Place, XHot Pepper Blend - Black Label
1st Place, Chipotle - Brown Label
2nd Place, Hot Sauce: Mild
2nd Place, Hot Sauce: Asian Style — Hot/X-Hot
3rd Place, Hot Sauce: Latin Style — Mild/Medium
3rd Place, Hot Sauce: Fruit Based – Hot/X-Hot
6 wins at Zestfest brings the total to 75 national industry awards in 5 years.
Always a proud moment to add to the shrine, even if it is getting a little obnoxious at this point.
I am humbled by the fact that my sauces are only as good as the next person who tries them says they are.
What a fantastic start to 2016 - Lucky Dog Hot Sauce Dia del Perro took home 1st Place Flat Art > Product Label, and won the Grand Prize for the Advertising & Marketing Division!
Woohoo! Can't wait to show off my banner in New Mexico, and the custom Disk-It BBQ is a fantastic prize to take home!
I could not be more excited to share with you all that Lucky Dog Hot Sauce Brown Label has been named a finalist in the 2016 Good Food Awards!
Since the inception of Lucky Dog Hot Sauce, I've been committed to sourcing locally whenever possible, and often at greater cost to produce my products. As such, it is both personally rewarding and a huge honor professionally to be recognized as a part of this community of responsible food producers.
The 2016 Good Food Awards winners will be notified in the coming weeks. While of course I'd love to win, I'm beyond thrilled to have Lucky Dog Hot Sauce named a finalist in a field of nearly 2000 products.
The Good Food Awards are something special, transcending "hot sauce awards", as a celebration of integrity, sustainability, and responsibility in food production.
I'm incredibly psyched to be a part of this year's Good Food Awards, and to be named as a finalist is a dream come true. I always strive to improve as a sauce maker, so it is especially awesome that this is for my newest product, Brown Label.
Wish me luck in the coming weeks - looking at the field of finalists, I'll need it!
The World Hot Sauce Awards results were announced in Louisiana on Friday, 07/18/14 & I'm beyond psyched to announce that Lucky Dog Hot Sauce's new Dia del Perro label won both 1st place in Label Art & also 1st overall in the Marketing Division!
Coming Soon!
1st Place, Label Art Category, Marketing Division - Dia del Perro
1st Place, Overall Marketing Division Winner - Dia del Perro
Woohoo! Congratulations to Robin Case & Erik Bucher who's collaborative efforts made this possible, and thanks to Kara Thauer for the original Lucky Dog label that inspired it all.
It started as a weekend hobby and turned into a hot commodity. So just over a year ago, after seven years of tinkering with recipes at home, former IT and project management man Scott Zalkind ditched the day job in favor of slinging hot sauce at farmers’ markets and festivals. It’s proven to be a critical success: Zalkind’s Lucky Dog hot sauce, a line of six flavors that run from extra mild to extra hot, has taken top honors at hot sauce competitions around the country ever since. We’re talking 22 awards and counting. Not too shabby, given that there’s a lot of competition out there now. Hot sauce production is, well, a red-hot industry these days.....(read more...)
I love customer submitted pics - I don't make sauce to win awards or get attention, I make sauce for people who love good food. It's always a joy for me to see happy customers, and the things they cook with Lucky Dog Hot Sauce! Thank you all for the photos and please do keep the pictures coming! Much love to you all!
