New! 12/11/2024 update: This batch of Black Label Special Reserve came out much hotter than expected. Still very tasty, just a head's up that the current batch of BLSR is actually hotter than Hell Hound. I'd estimate it at ~30% hotter than the previous batches.  The next batch will be back to normal, making this a bit of a limited edition. 

A  significantly hotter version of our original Black Label, Black Label Special Reserve uses Trinidad Scorpion mash as a base for a much more intense experience thanthe  fresh, seasonal Scorpion peppers of its predecessor. Combined with the deep, rich notes of fire-roasted jalapeno, figs & apples, along with a kick of ghost pepper for even more intensity, Black Label Special Reserve is a zesty, savory, and very, very hot sauce with rapidly creeping heat. 

Black Label Special Reserve was released in 2020 as a Heatonist exclusive for their subscription box. I remain deeply grateful for that, as the pandemic was unkind to small businesses like mine, & that subscription order was instrumental in Lucky Dog Hot Sauce's survival. It's a big part of why we are still around today. So thanks again, Heatonist!

The Story Behind the Sauce

Back in 2020, Heatonist approached me with the idea of making a hotter version of Black Label as a subscription sauce exclusively for them, and I jumped at the chance. For the last 4 years, Black Label Special Reserve has only been available at Heatonist or their online store, and it has been extremely popular at my local farmers markets & festivals.
